We could fight. You know, take on the monolith, we've got those pictures from the bathroom you took. And if that's not enough then, we're just gonna have to find something else. Because we have to let them know: this is not a senseless tragedy... there are reasons why this happened.
— about fighting for Hannah to Olivia Baker, in "Tape 2, Side B"

Andrew "Andy" Baker is a recurring character in the first season of 13 Reasons Why and was promoted to series regular in the second season. He is portrayed by Brian d'Arcy James.

Andy is the father of the late Hannah Baker and the ex-husband of Olivia Baker. He is also the co-owner of Baker's Drug Store.

Early Life

Before Andy and Oliva opened the store, Andy used to travel all the time to these "snooze-fest pharmaceutical conventions".

Andy cheated on his wife with Valerie. It continued for a month before his daughter, Hannah Baker, found out and forced him to tell his wife, Olivia.

Throughout the Series

Season 1

Andrew and Olivia were with Mr. Porter in the hallways of Liberty High School. They were picking up what was left of Hannah's locker. [1]

When Olivia found the "hot" list, made by Alex Standall along with Ryan Shaver, featuring their daughter Hannah, Andy wasn't sure about how the list would help them win the trial against the school.[2]

With the new opening of Wal-plex near the Baker's pharmacy, Andy is struggling to keep business. He doesn't know why people aren't coming and Olivia says it's because of Hannah. That people don't know how to act around them or what to say. Andy is upset about this and muses that Hannah's death could've been prevented. [3]

Andy and Olivia were shown briefly in the flashback, just before Hannah is left alone with Courtney to let her parents go on a date. Although they did not agree on getting Hannah a limo for the winter formal, Andy upgraded the rent and got her a new car for her friends. [4]

Andy can be seen sitting in the counseling office, even before Mr. Porter arrived. When he arrived, Andy holds out the poem that Ryan Shaver anonymously published, and asked Mr. Porter how he could've missed the signs. He said they could've at least tried to find out who wrote it. When Mr. Porter said the poem wasn't about suicide, Andy retorted that his daughter wrote about drowning with stones tied to her feet and being lost for good. Andy then angrily walks out the room.
